چکیده

THE PAST DECADE HAS BEEN A TIME OF IMPORTANT change in pharmacogenomics. There is an increasingly clear understanding of the relationship between genetic variation and drug response, lowcost testing technologies are becoming available, and pharmacogenomics is playing an increasing role in drug development. Key stakeholders in the US health care system are responding to these changes in various fashions. In this Commentary, we provide a brief overview of these developments and assess the implications for clinical practice.

Cancer pharmacogenomics, challenges in implementation, and patient-focused perspectives

Cancer pharmacogenomics is an evolving landscape and has the potential to significantly impact cancer care and precision medicine. Harnessing and understanding the genetic code of both the patient (germline) and the tumor (somatic) provides the opportunity for personalized dose and therapy selection for cancer patients. While germline DNA is useful in understanding the pharmacokinetic and pharm...

Power and Agenda-Setting in Tanzanian Health Policy: An Analysis of Stakeholder Perspectives

Background Global health policy is created largely through a collaborative process between development agencies and aid-recipient governments, yet it remains unclear whether governments retain ownership over the creation of policy in their own countries. An assessment of the power structure in this relationship and its influence over agenda-setting is thus the first step towards understanding w...

Stakeholder perspectives on a risk-benefit framework for genetic testing.

A key to accelerating the appropriate integration of genomic applications into healthcare in the coming decades will be the ability to assess the tradeoffs between clinical benefits and clinical risks of genetic tests in a timely manner. Several factors limit the ability of stakeholders to achieve this objective, including the lack of direct evidence, the lack of a framework to quantitatively a...
